About the Recipe
This is my take on a popular game day snack, Sliders. Sliders are basically mini burger and this one has a Mediterranean kick to it with the addition of harissa paste. I love making this during our summer barbecues and get-togethers because it’s an easy finger food loved by both kids and adults.
Ingredients
For the Beef Patty
450g minced meat
3 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tbsp of pine nuts, chopped roughly
2 tbsp parsley, minced
1 tbsp grated parmesan
2 tsp harissa paste
Zest of 1 lemon
1 tsp salt
½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Mayo & Parsley Sauce
½ cup of mayonnaise
1 tbsp diced parsley
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp of chopped dill pickle
Condiments
Bread Rolls (6 pieces)
Sliced red onions
Tomatoes
Edam cheese slices
Halloumi cheese, fried
Topping
Melted butter
Sesame seeds
Chopped fresh parsley
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the patties and mix through. Set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 180ºC. Line a baking tray and shape your meat mixture into a flat rectangular patty that is slightly larger than the size of your bread rolls. The meat will shrink as it cooks. Top with sliced red onions and drizzle with oil. Place into the oven and bake for 25 minutes or until the meat is fully cooked.
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the Mayo & Parsley Sauce and mix. Cut your bread rolls in half and spread a little bit of the sauce on the bottom half. Place the rolls onto a baking tray lined with paper and top each a slice of Edam cheese.
Once the meat has cooked, place the patty on top of the bread rolls. Top with slices of tomato, fried Halloumi slices and more Edam if you want. Take the top half of the bun and spread the Mayo & Parsley sauce then place onto the burger.
Brush the tops of the burger with melted butter and sprinkle on the sesame seeds and fresh parsley. Place the burger in the over for 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Serve immediately with fries and your favourite sauces.
