About the Recipe
KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is a popular dish in South Korea. I remember watching K-dramas and thinking, "wow, they make it look so good!". When I tried it in South Korea, I was not disappointed.
The combination of the crispy coated chicken with the spicy-sweet gochujang sauce is addictive. This recipe is a take on the famous version, Yangnyeom Chicken, and uses boneless chicken pieces. You can also use wings or drumettes if you prefer.
Ingredients
Ingredients for the Sauce:
1/4 cup chicken stock
3 tbsp gochujang
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp ketchup
2 tsp honey
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 - 1 tsp sesame oil
Other Ingredients
250g frozen breaded chicken fillets or popcorn chicken
Sesame seeds
Chopped spring onions
Preparation
Heat oil in a wok and fry the chicken fillets till golden and cooked through. Set aside on paper towel. Drain all but 1 tsp of the oil.
Combine all the ingredients for the sauce and add in to the heated wok. Stir and let simmer till the sauce thickens slightly.
Add in the fried chicken pieces and toss to coat the chicken in the sauce. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve with Korean rice.
